DAVENPORT RIM NEWS – FRONT YARDS, TREES & IRRIGATION

1. The Front Yard Policy compliance deadline has been postponed from Nov. 1 to Nov. 15. This will give owners a little more time to finish their front yards and remain in compliance. Board members walked the neighborhood on Oct. 15 as
scheduled. Most units are in compliance. A few who are not will be notified in the next week, and should be able to get the necessary work done in time for the Nov. 15 deadline.
2. The Board received three bids for stump grinding and tree replacement, and Yellowstone Landscaping was approved to do the work. How soon the trees will be planted depends on how rapidly the trees become available, but indications are that they should easily be planted during the ideal tree planting time of November through mid-December. Fingers crossed!
3. Yellowstone is apologizing for our irregular irrigation runs. They have determined that we need an updated Rainbird controller, and a new Q4 controller is back-ordered that should be in within the next couple of weeks. (This is part of the supply chain problems going on across the nation.)
4. Yellowstone, with the updated controller, will be able to set up a “tree watering” zone that will come on regularly to provide proper moisture to the newly planted trees. Yellowstone expects to receive an exemption from Austin Water to irrigate the new trees for 2-3 months while the roots become established.
Plans continue, however, to shut down lawn and shrub irrigation for 2-3 months over the winter, beginning sometime in December, to save money in the routine wastewater averaging program:
Owners should keep in mind that new shrubs planted in November may have to be hand-watered to help them get established and healthy for a month or two while the roots are growing.
